Terms of use

Bonsai is made by ByteBrushSoftware LLC. These terms apply when you use the Bonsai app or the orchard console. When you use Bonsai, you agree to them. The Apple Standard License Agreement applies to the app too. Our privacy policy tells you how we use your data.

Your account

• You must be 13 or older to use Bonsai.
• You sign in with your Apple account. Keep your phone safe, because it holds your sign-in.
• Approve a console sign-in only when the browser is in front of you.
• You can delete your account at any time in Profile, Privacy & export.

Premium

• Premium is a monthly subscription that you buy through Apple. Apple charges your Apple account.
• The subscription renews each month until you cancel it. Cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the month, or it renews.
• To cancel, open iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
• Apple handles refunds. Ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• The Sage answers a set number of questions each month. The app shows how many you have left.

What you share

You own what you post, such as Grove posts, photos and trees. You give Bonsai the right to store it and show it to the people that you share it with. A tree that you publish stays in the Nursery after you delete your account, with no name on it.

Do not post:

• Content that is hateful, sexual, violent or threatening.
• Content that harasses a person or shares private data of another person.
• Spam, scams or advertising.
• Content that you have no right to share.

We do not accept this kind of content. You can report a post or a tree, and block a user, in the app. We read each report. We remove content that breaks these terms, and we can suspend the account that posted it.

The Sage

The Sage is an AI. Its advice can be wrong. It does not replace a doctor, a coach or another expert. For a skill with risk, such as a sport or a power tool, practice safely and know your limits.

Orchards

• An orchard is a business or a teacher on Bonsai. The owner makes the trees of the orchard and is responsible for them.
• The price on an orchard tree is the price of the orchard. You pay the orchard directly. Bonsai does not take that payment.
• An orchard can end your enrollment. You keep your progress, but the tree stops growing.
• An orchard owner must have the right to represent the business, and must keep its details true.

Our part

We work to keep Bonsai running and your data safe. We can change or stop a feature. We give Bonsai as it is, with no promise that it is free of errors. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss from the use of Bonsai.

Changes

When these terms change, we put the new text on this page and change the date at the top. If you use Bonsai after a change, you agree to the new terms.
