Privacy policy

Bonsai is made by ByteBrushSoftware LLC. This policy tells you what data the Bonsai app and the orchard console collect, why, and who can see it. Bonsai shows no ads. Bonsai does not sell your data and does not track you across apps.

What we collect

When you look for orchards near you, the app sends a rough area around you, about 200 km wide. We use it for that search only and do not store it.
The camera reads QR codes for orchards, coach approvals and console sign-ins. The app keeps no camera images.
The Sage and AI
The Sage uses AI models from outside AI providers. When you use a Sage feature, our server sends an AI provider the data for that request:
- A question to the Sage: your question, the step you are on, the notes and feelings of your last practices of that step, and the last Sage answers.
- A photo for the Sage: the photo.
- The weekly summary: your minutes of practice, and how your practices felt that week.
- A tree that the Sage builds: the goal that you type.
- Orchard text that the Sage writes: the orchard details and your instruction.
AI providers also check requests and photos for safety. We use AI providers that do not train their models on this data.
Who can see your data
- Your journal and your notes are private.
- Your photos are private until you share one to the Grove.
- All Bonsai users can see your Grove posts, with your tag, your name, the photo, the tree and the step.
- When you join an orchard, its owner and coaches can see your tag, your name, your progress in their tree, your last practice and your approvals.
- A tree that you publish shows in the Nursery with your tag.
- Bonsai staff can see account data to give support and keep the service safe.

How long we keep data
- We keep your data while you have an account.
- Records of Sage requests, without your account id, go away after 90 days.
- Backups keep 24 hours of history.
Get a copy of your data
In the app, open Profile, then Privacy & export, then Download my data. You get a file with your account, trees, garden, journal, badges, Sage chats, approvals and Grove activity.
Delete your account
- In the app, open Profile, then Privacy & export.
- Tap Delete account, then Delete everything.
- Your data leaves your phone at once.
- Our server erases your data 30 days later. If you sign in again before then, the deletion stops.
- The erasure removes your gardens, journal, practices, photos, Sage chats, Grove activity, approvals, badges, subscription record and feedback.
- Trees that you published stay in the Nursery, with no name on them.
- An empty account record stays, with no name and no email.
To cancel Premium, use your Apple subscriptions in iPhone Settings. A deleted account does not cancel the subscription.
Children
Bonsai is not for children under 13. If you think that a child under 13 has an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to support@grow-bonsai.app. The law where you live can give you more rights. We honor them.
Changes
When this policy changes, we put the new text on this page and change the date at the top.
